Poggio Pelliccia Tomb
The tomb consists of a mound of earth at the centre of which there is the chamber accessed through a long corridor. On the top is closed by a large stone. The finds, is preserved in the Museum of Vetulonia. This tomb, which takes its name from the area, suggests the existence of an aristocratic family that had estates in this area. The finds recovered in the tomb are preserved in the Archaeological Museum Isidoro Falchi, a Vetulonia.
FROM SOUTH: Take the highway Roma-Fiumicino Airport, continue on A91, take the exit for A12 to Civitavecchia, turn left into SS1, Braccagni exit, turn right SP 152, at the roundabout take the 3rd exit and stay on SP152, follow the tourist indications.
FROM NORTH: Follow signs to A11/Firenze/Siena/Bologna/Pisa north and enter A1. Take the exit Firenze / Certosa, at the roundabout take the 1st exit and proceeding Poggibonsi Siena-Florence / Florence / Siena / Colle Val d'Elsa / Grosseto / Siena. Exit at Colle Val d'Elsa South to S.P. 70. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit towards S.S. 54, turn right S.S.441. Follow the signs for Ravi / S.P. 82 and then to Gavorrano.
