Natural Reserve Basso Merse
The boundaries of the Reserve include the last stretch of the river Merse and the surrounding area who sees the confluence with the river Ombrone. The landscape is gentle and modest alternating hills, flat areas and waterways. The reserve, founded in 1996, protecting the rich habitat of the river Merse, who is at high risk of extinction. Further inland, the landscape sees the presence of dark green rocks decorated with beautiful blooms. Rich in species of flora, but also historical evidence, some going back to 1100, as the Hermitage of Montespecchio. From the north take the Siena / Florence, SS2.
From the south take from Rome, A1, direction Florence, exit Val di Chiana.
